Binmaley Evac Center-cum-Event’s Place inaugurated
THE modern, fully air-conditioned Binmaley Evacuation Center in Poblacion with rows of bleachers was inaugurated on March 2.
Mayor Simplicio Rosario said it was built primarily to serve as a temporary shelter of residents affected by calamities or disasters.
It will also be called “Binmaley Events’ Place” since it can be used by the public for big gatherings like sports activities, concerts, birthdays, weddings, baptismal parties, reunions, among others. It has 2,500 seating capacity, Rosario said.
He added that it is a dream finally realized and it took them years to finish its construction
Meanwhile, during the mayor’s State of Municipality Address (SOMA), a certificate was awarded to the initial 12 recipients of the Binmaley Resettlement Project in Barangay Papagueyan.
This project was made possible under Rosario’s administration in collaboration with the with the National Housing Authority, Presidential Commission on Urban Poor, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development and the Pangasinan Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Office.
He said 87 housing units were built for selected qualified informal settlers along Agdao River.
“They have no house, no lot. This has been my dream for people living along riverbanks to be given house and lot,” he added.
Rosario said once the local government is able to buy another lot, another housing project will be constructed for qualified municipal employees and teachers.
He acknowledged the vital help of former vice president and now senatorial candidate Jejomar Binay for the realization of the town’s housing project. Binay was in town on March 2 for Rosario’s SOMA and birthday celebration. (Eva Visperas)
