BFAR holds fishery industry forum
THE Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Ilocos conducted last Wednesday its 52nd Fisheries Industry Forum for Stakeholders at the Monarch Hotel in Calasiao town.
BFAR’s Ilocos regional director Rosario Segundina Gaerlan said the forum was in line with the Department of Agriculture’s key strategies in achieving the One DA Reform Agenda for inclusive growth fostering an accelerated transformation towards the modern and industrialized fishery sector.
She said the forum sought to provide opportunities for market linkage, access to credit institutions, availment of latest technologies and innovations in fishery industry.
She said the forum included discussions on compliance to regulatory standards to help aquapreneurs improve their skills on production that will impact on the positive outlook of fisherfolk towards a healthier and sustainable industry.
During the activity, the participants were given insights on the following topics: agri-business corridors (ABC) for fisheries, products and services for the fisheries industry, credit and policy programs and product promotion and demand requirement. (PIA Pangasinan/EMSA)
