THE Pangasinan provincial government will grant condonation of interests and penalties for delinquent real property taxes prior to 2021 to lighten the plight of real property owners in the province.

Provincial Treasurer Maria Lourdez Utanes said a 20% discount shall be granted to the taxpayer if the basic real property and additional Special Education Fund (SEF) tax for the current year are paid in full on or before December 31, 2021 and up to March 31, 2022.

Utanes added that payment for the abovementioned taxes may also be paid in four equal installments without penalty on or before the last day of every quarter of the following year.

However, she added that only a 10% discount shall be granted to a taxpayer who pays the taxes in full on or before the deadline but on installment basis.

“Failure to pay the real property taxes upon the expiration of the periods provided, or when due, shall subject the taxpayer to the payment of interest at the rate of two percent per month on the unpaid amount or fraction thereof, until the delinquent tax shall have been fully paid,” she said in a letter addressed to all Municipal Treasurers in the province.
