Region’s first ‘face-to-face’ jobs fair offered 2,800 jobs
OVER 2,800 job vacancies were offered to jobseekers, but only more than 300 could take part in the region’s first face-to-face Jobs Fair on Dec. 8 held at the PESO Pangasinan Complex, Capitol Compound in Lingayen.
From the jobseekers that registered and visited the site, 17 jobseekers were hired on the spot, and 12 were near-hires.
One of the lucky applicants hired-on-the spot was Arkland Austria, 29, a civil engineer from San Carlos City. He will work as a safety officer in a local company, and will be trained for deployment to Saudi Arabia.
This first face-to-face Jobs Fair in Region 1 was in celebration of the 88th Foundation Anniversary of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in partnership with the Pangasinan’s Public Employment Services Office (PESO).
Representing DOLE Regional Director (RD) Evelyn Ramos, Assistant RD Honorina Dian-Baga congratulated the jobseekers for taking part in this historic “first face-to-face in the New Normal” jobs fair.
Baga likewise extended the felicitation of DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III, with his anniversary message: “The way to inclusive rise is our sustained implementation of honest service.”
Meanwhile, PESO Manager Alex Ferrer extended Gov. Amado Espino III’s respect to all dedicated workers in Pangasinan, home to one of the most robust labor forces in the country.
“As a Hall-of-Famer Best PESO in the country, the PESO Pangasinan shall unceasingly fulfill its mandate to be the enabler of sustainable labor and employment for every single constituent of Pangasinan,” Ferrer assured. (Eva Visperas)
