THE construction of the Conrado F. Estrella Regional Medical and Trauma Center in Barangay Carmay East in Rosales is expected to be operational next year with its construction already 50 percent complete.

Abono Party-list Rep. Conrado Estrella III, who authored R.A. 11558 entitled An Act Establishing a General Hospital in the Municipality of Rosales to be known as the Conrado F. Estrella Regional Medical and Trauma Center and Appropriating Funds, is confident that the hospital will be serving patients not only from Pangasinan but Tarlac and Nueva Ecija as well.

RA11558 was signed into law by President Rodrigo Duterte on June 24, 2020. It emanated from House Bill 6850 which Estrella pushed.

The fund for the construction of the hospital came from the Health Facilities Enhancement Program of the Department of Health under the 2022 General Appropriations Act.

“The proposed hospital to be built and operated by the Department of Health is our gift to the people of Region I, especially the eastern portion of Pangasinan,” Estrella said.

Conrado F. Estrella Sr. served as Pangasinan governor from 1954 to 1963 and Secretary and Minister of the Department of Agrarian Reform from 1971 to 1986. He was the grandfather of Abono partylist Rep. Conrado Estrella III. (Eva Visperas)
