THE mayor of Sual town ordered all tourism establishments, municipal beaches and tourist spots to deny entry and service to all international and local tourists entering the municipality until order is withdrawn.

The order of Mayor Liseldo Calugay was prompted by the reported surge in positive COVID-19 cases in the provinces, cities and municipalities across the country, particularly from the National Capital Region+.

The Municipal Health Office reported seven active positive cases in the town.

“There is a need to prevent the local transmission of COVID-19,” the order said, adding the mayor has to issue the order to protect the townspeople.

“All tourism related-establishments, tourist spots and beaches shall be exclusive only to residents of the municipality,” the order stressed.

For enforcement purposes, “identification cards must be shown to the authorities indicating that the person lives in the municipality”.

The order said it shall be effective immediately and shall remain binding until revoked in writing by the mayor. (Eva Visperas)
