SP wants 2 provincial roads converted into national highways

THE Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) passed a resolution urging the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to convert the provincial road lines of Manaoag-Pozorrubio and San Jacinto-Pozorrubio into national roads.

Provincial Resolution No. 2266-2021 endorsing the conversion of the Manaoag-Pozorrubio (Pao-Pozorrubio Section) and San Jacinto-Pozorrubio Provincial Roadlines into National Roadlines’, authored by SP Members Jeremy Agerico Rosario, Rosario Perez-Tababa, Nicholi Jan Sison, and Liberato Villegas, was passed last week during virtual session on April 12.

The resolution cited the role that the Manaoag-Pozorrubio road plays for motorists and commuters it being the road line that leads commuters, pilgrims and visitors to Manaoag town, and the famous Minor Basilica, while the San Jacinto-Pozorrubio road is used as an alternate route by motorists to and from the Cordillera and other provinces in Region 1.

The resolution authors expressed hope that the conversion of the two road lines will further boost economic growth in the area since s both serve as gateways to eastern and central Pangasinan.

Once converted, the DPWH will undertake annual maintenance costs to improve, and beautify the two roads. (Ahikam Pasion)
