Re: Dagupan collected measly P81-T from fish trade

Her Highness Belen Fernandez is aghast that a measly P81,000 was collected by City Agriculture Office’s (CAO) last year. One has to wonder how much taxes Madam Belen paid in taxes from her fishponds. It has been known that there have been instances where fishpond owners worked in collusion with wholesalers in hiding the true amount of their transactions.

No, I don’t believe that her highness is involved in any such shenanigans. She is too prudish and righteous. Anyone who is offended at the sight of ladies in bikinis could not be involved in any illegal activities. I applaud her for instructing City Agriculture Officer Emma Molina to draw up plans to improve revenue collection.

I hope that these instructions include the investigation of any dealings by fishpond owners, wholesalers and retailers. The lax enforcement of regulations governing the aforementioned business’ could account for the bangus revenue shortfall.
