Propitious times

By Gonzalo Duque

THE sky was dark and cloudy, threatening lives, because this storm “Ompong” is, weather forecasters say, would be stronger and deadlier than Yolanda.

We are heartened by everyone’s preparedness though. Thanks to our responsive government and the Filipino’s heroic side.

In spite of what some people say to downgrade the Filipino character, laging nananalungaring, nananaig ang pagka-makabayan at makabansang ugali natin.

By the way, we are happy to report that our job at the Social Security System has resulted in many tangible accomplishments.

A branch in San Carlos is about to open to serve members in the 3rd district of Cong. Baby Arenas and parts of the 2nd of Cong. Pol Bataoil.

How did that happen? Hmm, singa agyo kabat yay makter ya lingkor. We used the art of k… kulitizing our board.

As regards Alaminos City, we are happy to inform that ayos na po! We hit next Urdaneta in the 5th of Cong Spines and Tayug and Rosales in the 6th of Cong Marlyn Agabas and Conrad Estrella in a short while.

We had a heartwarming experience in Isabela in which kind souls donated a choice property for SSS use. Ditto is San Fernando, La Union who showed the same altruistic gesture. This and many other things are happening under the Duterte government, without fanfare.

Quotable Quote: On Courage

“Life does not allow
us to be correct,
brave and consistent
all the time.

But when people
share their fears
with us, we need to
share our courage
with them.

A generous person
will always prosper
because he who
refreshes others
will himself
be refreshed.

Blessed are those
whose hearts beat
with loving
compassion
for others. ”

Have u seen the movie “Goyo, Ang Batang Heneral?”

Our cumpdre Jun V says the American officer Philip Lindmark who fatally shot Gen. Gregorio del Pilar told his son, Frank, that historians did a grave disservice to the truth for claiming that Del Pilar was robbed and subjected to indignities when he fell. Before he died, Cpl. Lindmark asked his son to go to Manila Bulletin to correct the “fake news.”

Thru lakay Condring Estrella, Rodriguez and Frank Lindmark contacted Jun V to do the corrective story. It turned out the old Lindmark married a San Juan, La Union Feliza Villalon, cousin of Jun’s ma-in-law, while Frank’s wife, Purificacion Perez is the sister of ex-mayor Laureano Perez of San Manuel, erpat ni Vice Mayor Badong. Small world awa?
