Development of Bonuan District seen

We welcome the opening of CSI Bonuan situated at a cross road of Barangay Bonuan Gueset, Bonuan Binloc and Bonuan Boquig last August 1. Indeed, an ideal location for us in the district.

With CSI Bonuan, the people of Bonuan, like us, no longer need to go downtown to buy food and other essential items since these are now readily available in our area.

It made good business sense for the CSI Group of Companies to expand its stores to Bonuan area, which was identified in the approved Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) as one of the three new growth centers of Dagupan, to become the tourism hub of the city.

And this is not only because of the fact that Noel and Carol Bumanglag are from Bonuan Gueset, and where Noel is the newly elected barangay chairman.  The population of Bonuan district is already equivalent at one town in Pangasinan like Sto. Tomas and Laoac.

Note that the Tondaligan Park, now being redeveloped into a family recreation park by Mayor Belen Fernandez, is located in Bonuan Gueset,

The two-kilometer board walk now being built by the Department of Public Works and Highways through the initiative of Congressman Christopher de Venecia, will boost Tondaligan as  mecca of tourists in Dagupan whose needs have to be served.

With a brand new supermarket near them, people in the district will find it very convenient to shop at CSI Bonuan rather than take a 15-20 minute drive to supermarkets in the downtown area.

Its presence will certainly help decongest the city’s central business district of both people and vehicles.

During the last week’s massive flooding in the city, the Bonuan district –except some low-lying sitios near rivers — remained dry, a fact that we have seen in the past as well.

As the district that’s less prone to flooding, we can expect more investments coming to the area.

The only draw back right today is the Bonuan dumpsite which I know will finally be taken over by of the country’s first-ever waste-to-worth facility that can convert plastic wastes into diesel fuel and food wastes into fertilizers.

Another advantage for an investor to choose Bonuan is there will be no need for any backfilling at all, unlike what property owners along the Jose R. de Venecia Highway in Pantal and Lucao need to do, if they relocate or establish their businesses in Bonuan.

And, with the new city hall soon to rise in Pantal along the JdV Expressway Extension, Bonuan may become yet become the newest central business district of Dagupan.  – Leonardo Micua
