A travel journal that will give you a pleasant view of people, places, food, culture, history and events from a refreshing perspective

WHO said it’s boring when it’s raining and pouring? There are a lot of things to do in Dagupan on a rainy day than just curling up your bed or couch at home. Here’s a quick list:

Read in a Library. Visit the Dagupan City Library and Information Center at the Dagupan People’s Astrodome. They have more than 20,000 books for you to choose from. The Dagupan City Library placed second in the Search for Outstanding City Libraries in the Philippines in 2009. In 2014, it is the second best in the Search for Outstanding Libraries with Services for PWDs. There’s also a Fidel V. Ramos (FVR) Library building at the University of Pangasinan-PHINMA campus. Named after the former president from Pangasinan, the library also serves as a museum which contains some of President Ramos’s personal memorabilia and collection of books. The SM Foundation, Inc. Hall located on the third floor of the FVR building houses books for college students and serves as a study hall. The building was constructed through a collaboration of the University of Pangasinan with SM Foundation, Pilipinas Shell and San Roque Power Plant.

Drink Coffee. Dagupenos love coffee. Just count the numerous coffee shops in the city. Drinking coffee on a rainy keeps you warm and comfy. Here are some cafés where you can enjoy your cup of coffee: Sip N’ Slice Café, Bo’s Coffee, Flyer’s Hub Café and Travel, Meshroom Café, Caffe La Tea, The Blue Cup Café, Beans and Roots Coffee & Tea, Kaffa Ave, GT Dolce Café, Bread House Café and Bakery and of course the famous Starbucks. And that’s just a short list.

Food Park Hopping. The rainy day shouldn’t dampen your food binge mood and Instagram feed. Dagupan has surged in to the food park craze that hit Manila. There are three food parks in the city where you can visit: Tramo Food Hub in M.H. Del Pilar St., The Garage Food and Art Hub in Perez Blvd., and Liberty Food Park in Arellano St. Hop on these food destinations which offer a variety of cuisine and unique food to choose from.

Malling. There’s always the mall where you can “kill” time while you wait for the rain to stop. There’s the CSI Malls, Nepo Mall and Magic Mall to choose from. You can eat, watch a movie; play billiards and bowling; play games at the arcade, meet the BFFs or just leisurely walk around and window shop. Of course there’s free wifi!

Hit the Gym. Unless you like being drenched by the rain while jogging, running and biking, the gym is your best option to stay fit and sweat it out on a rainy day. Some of the notable gyms in the city are: Jaden Fitness Center, International Budo Arts Alliance Gym, FP Gym, RVG Powerbuild Gym and Fitness Station, and Dagupan City Spa & Fitness Center.

Have a Massage. Dagupan is a Spa and Wellness city! Have that relaxing massage at the following spa and wellness centers: Footprints Spa, Luxus Spa, Skin Oasis, Stillwater Spa, Soulstice Spa, Nuat Thai, Serene Cove, and Royale Palace Spa to name a few.

Go to the Beach. The beach can be fun even on a rainy day. No crowd. No sun burn. You have the Bonuan Blue Beach all for yourself. Play under the rain and reminisce your childhood days!

Enjoy Dagupan on a rainy day!
