Fire all scalawags in the PNP!

BEBOT VILLAR

PULIS na naman. And this time, not just one but twelve policemen were involved in the much talked about highway robbery and kidnapping that took place in broad daylight in Quezon City on September 1.

Tsk, tsk PNP has hardly recovered from the shooting rampage in Lingayen by one policeman that killed four teachers, nabukulan na naman sila. Mas malaki pa!

Buti na lang, the picture of the scalawags’ “highway robbery” sa Edsa ay naging viral sa social media kung kaya’t nakuha ang attention ng mga otoridad. Ang ikinagagalit ng marami nating mga kababayan was the attempt of these police scalawags to make what they did appear as a legitimate drug buy-bust operation.

Masakit man aminin, but it seems there are still many bad eggs in PNP. Worse, ang involved are two police officers: a chief inspector and a senior inspector. What is sad is that every time that these scalawags are exposed, it’s the whole PNP organization that suffers. It’s as if every policeman is a crook. This perception erodes the people’s trust in the PNP.

Sabi ni DILG Sec. Mar Roxas during his interview by Anthony Taverna in his program, Punto Por Punto recently, there are more than 140,000 policemen and around possibly 10% or more than 15,000 are crooks! Which leads to the question: ginagawa ba ang pamunuan ng PNP na linisin ang kanilang sariling bakuran? If so, kailangan i-update nila ang mga mamamayan!

Sa harap ng tumataas na bilang ng mga shooting incidents sa ating bansa, the urgent call for the leadership of PNP is to weed out the misfits.

Let’s fire them now! Let’s not give them the opportunity to commit another crime!

Up to this day, nababalot pa rin sa takot at lungkot ang buong Pangasinan National High School (PNHS).

But the teachers and students cannot forget the incident.

There are many lessons to be learned from the tragedy hindi lamang sa panig ng academic community, but for our law enforcers. But the nagging question that needs an answer is: How safe are our schools, especially public schools in Pangasinan? No one has the answer. The immediate response of the PNP was merely to post additional policemen at the PNHS. Is this really the answer?

Education Secretary Armin Luistro said that the DepEd will conduct a deeper investigation into the incident after things have normalized at the PNHS.

Dapat maging warning to all urban cities ang pagkaka-buhol-buhol ng traffic sa Maynila last week.

Because of the congestion, many motorists and commuters were trapped na naging dahilan ng halos sampung-kilometrong pila sa NLEx.

It only pointed to one thing: Motor vehicles are increasing so fast pero di naman nadaragdagan ang ating mga lansangan.

Sa Dagupan City, halimbawa, we are already seeing bottlenecks in many parts during rush hours dahil sa dami ng sasakyang papasok o papalabas ng lungsod. I note that all passenger buses and jeepneys from other other towns ay dumadaan sa lungsod.

Ang punto natin, local governments and national agencies should already come up with a long-term solution sa problemang ito.
