WHILE all towns and cities in Pangasinan already has fire stations, expect the construction of more functional fire stations in the province.

Fire Superintendent Georgian Pascua, provincial fire marshal, said most fire stations in cities and towns are housed in buildings owned by the local governments and their use are made possible by the Bureau of Fire through a memorandum of agreement.

Pascua said implementation of plans to construct BFP’s own functional fire stations are ongoing, citing the construction of the BFP Fire Station in Urdaneta City and soon in San Carlos City, Anda, and Labrador towns.

He said the fire stations in Urdaneta and soon in San Carlos City, will be equipped with modern facilities and designed to be functional for more effective response operations.

To achieve modernization of the fire stations in the province, all the local governments have pledged land donations for the construction of modern fire stations.

Meanwhile, local BFP stations in Tayug, Villasis, Balungao, and San Jacinto towns have received new fire trucks from the BFP. The fire station in Bolinao received a new fire truck from the town’s local government.

Pascua said Pangasinan is the first province in the region to have a 1:1 fire station-town ratio and he credited local governments’ support to the BFP. (Ahikam Pasion)
