Fire guts 2nd floor of Puregold in Mangatarem

THE cause of the fire that razed the second storey of the Puregold grocery in Mangatarem town in the evening of March 23 is still being determined by the Bureau of Fire Protection.

F/Inspector Ramil Fernandez, Mangatarem fire marshal, said the fire that gutted the entire second floor, with an area of 1000 square meters, took more than three hours to put out.

According to initial details the BFP gathered, Fernandez said it was the dry goods section that was burned.

The fire began at 6:30 P.M. and was declared fire out at around 9:50 P.M. The incident was elevated to fourth alarm.

Fortunately, no casualty or injury was reported. Neighboring buildings were also spared from the fire.

As of writing, the BFP has not yet estimated losses and damages from the fire. (Ahikam Pasion)
