NO CAUSE FOR ALARM

THE number of active COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan slightly increased to 322 as of February 25, from 255 last February 18 with 178 more new confirmed cases added to the tally in a span of one week compared to only 133 recoveries earlier.

Pangasinan health officials are in agreement that the slight increase of COVID-19 cases is not an indication of a trend that the coronavirus is again starting to rise after the numbers dropping in the last three weeks.

Meanwhile, the province still awaits advice from the Department of Health-Center for Health Development 1 in San Fernando City, La Union for the date of roll out of the anti-COVID-19 vaccine in Pangasinan.

As gleaned from the monitoring of the Provincial Health Office (PHO), of the 322 remaining active cases still confined and placed in isolation, 289 are from the 47 component cities and towns of Pangasinan and 33 from Dagupan, an independent component city.

But the good news is there are no active cases with UK variant which was already detected in Bontoc, Mt. Province and La Trinidad, Benguet.

Based on the registered178 new confirmed cases, the highest number of cases were registered on February 20 and 23 (41 cases each), February 19 (26), February 20 (20), February 21 (15) and February 24 (11).

Recoveries reported were: February 19 (24), February 20 (29), February 21 (10), February 22 (21), February 23 (15), February 24 (11) and February 25 (26).

As of February 25, the overall total of confirmed cases registered in Pangasinan is 4,925 (3,788 in 47 towns and cities) and 1,137 in Dagupan City.

Notably, the total recoveries remain high at 4,371 cases: 3,316 in other towns and cities 1,055 in Dagupan City.  Overall death toll is 322 with 183 in Pangasinan’s 47 towns and cities; 139 in Dagupan City. (Leonardo Micua)
