25 displaced OFWs in Aguilar receive livelihood assistance

THE provincial government provided P5,000 financial assistance to each 25 displaced Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Aguilar through its Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa OFW Project held on March 3.

The Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa OFW Project, a livelihood program of the province, is part of the Abig Pangasinan recover program launched by Gov. Amado Espino III to support Pangasineses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The program engages displaced OFWs with livelihood opportunities using the financial assistance as their start-up capital.

Second District Board Member Nestor D. Reyes led the awarding ceremony in the presence of PESO Supervising Labor and Employment Officer Richelle Raguindin, PESO Labor and PESO Labor and Employment Officer III Rachel Jose and Aguilar Migrant Desk Officer Evelyn Dumlao.

“Habang may buhay at habang sumisikat ang araw sa silangan, may pag-asa,” BM Reyes told the beneficiaries as he urged them to make use of the financial assistance to support their daily living.

The 25 beneficiaries of the financial assistance were selected by the town’s migrant desk officer using the following criteria: cause of repatriation, number of months/years OFW worked abroad, and economic situation.

Also present during the program were: Private Secretary to the Mayor Smile Sagles and

 “Sana po itong maliit na tulong na bigay ni Governor ay mapalago pa po natin at itong training-seminar ay mapalawak natin ang ating kaalaman pagdating sa business,” she also urged the OFWs.

The 25 beneficiaries also engaged in financial management training administered by the Provincial Population, Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office. (PIO/SMDG)
