Woman stabbed in altercation

A 30-year-old woman was stabbed several times after a heated altercation in Barangay Poblacion, Binmaley.

The victim, Rochelle Valdez, a fish vendor, was stabbed by Hermie Manaoat, 43, a fisherman, resident of the same place.

Initial investigation showed the victim, along with companions including Marilou Melendez, the companion of the suspect, were happily engaged in a drinking spree, when Manaoat suddenly arrived, insulted and cussed the suspect, that resulted in a heated argument.

Moments later when the victim approached the suspect to berate him. Manaoat took out a kitchen knife and stabbed Valdez several times, wounding her in different parts of her body.

Manaoat immediately fled the incident, while the victim was rushed to the hospital.

Manaoat is subject to hot pursuit operation and possible motive behind the incident is an old grudge, according to police. (Ahikam Pasion)
