SOON IN MALLS

THE Philippine Red Cross (PRC) – Pangasinan Chapter is set to open its saliva test drive-thru hubs on malls in the province.

Krismar Brillantes, PRC-Pangasinan Chapter officer-in-charge, said negotiations and discussions of protocol with malls in Central Pangasinan for the establishment of said drive-thru kiosks started.

He said submission of specimens via drive-thru will be easy and convenient since clients will only need to drop off their saliva specimens without getting out of their vehicles.

However, Brillantes said that to avail of the drive-thru facility, clients must book for an appointment online and will be asked to prepay in authorized outlets once the appointment is confirmed.

“There will be payment transactions on site,” he said.

Results will then be sent to clients via email within 24 hours.

While the PRC-Pangasinan chapter already did saliva-tests on 200 persons in the province for almost a month , the saliva test in Pangasinan is still in its ‘experimental stage’.

Presently, only PRC Dagupan and Urdaneta City branches are open for extraction of saliva samples.

As of writing, the PRC’s saliva testing costs only P2,000, more than 50% cheaper than the standard swab testing. Both examinations make use of the Reverse Transcript – Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) method.

To avail of the saliva test, contact 0998 739 9130, or send an email to pangasinansalivatest@gmail.com or may also inquire directly at PRC Dagupan City or Urdaneta City offices.

The PRC offices are open from 8 a.m.to 5 p.m., while collection dates for specimens are on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 8 in the morning, until 12 noon. (Ahikam Pasion)
