2ND ANNIVERSARY REPORT

THE Malasakit Center at the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) in Dagupan City already benefited 85,248 indigent patients since it was launched in 2019.

R1MC Hospital Director Dr. Joseph Roland Mejia reported this to Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go when he visited for the second anniversary of the Malasakit Center .

Mejia added that the Malasakit Center in Dagupan already received P120-million fund as medical financial assistance to indigent patients, he added.

Go also turned over a P5-million cheque that the hospital receives monthly for medical financial assistance for its patients.

He said people should not thank him nor the President as they are just doing their work. Instead he thanked the people for giving them the chance to serve them.

He further pledged to donate a one-time P10-million assistance for poor patients in the hospital from his senate office.

The aim of the Malasakit Center is for indigent patients to have a zero balance billing in their hospitalization, he said.

Meanwhile, Go assured Fourth District Christopher de Venecia that he will help provide more funds for the ongoing construction of a seven-story building at the R1MC to increase its bed capacity from 300 to 600.

“Through Sen. Bong Go, we’re looking forward to the implementation and realization of this dream,” De Venecia said.

De Venecia’s mother, former Rep. Gina de Venecia authored Republic Act 10614 which is being implemented through the construction of the seven-story building.

The Malasakit Center is a one-stop-shop processing of required documents where representatives of the Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, PhilHealth and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office are located in each Malasakit Center. (Eva Visperas)
