PhilMech delivers over P270-M worth of agri equipment

THE Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) distributed more than Php 270 million worth of agricultural machineries to 111 farmers’ associations and cooperatives in the province on Friday.

The beneficiaries received four-wheel drive tractors, precision seeders, combine harvesters, and mechanical dryers. The equipment comprised the distribution of  farming equipment in Pangasinan. Last year, equipment P260 million from the 2019 fund were delivered.

At the turnover ceremony, PhilMech’s Joel Dator said the equipment were part of PhilMech’s budget allotment under the Philippine Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF).

Dator said PhilMech already delivered P530 million worth of equipment to provide production technologies in the province.

He said additional equipment would be given to more farmers’ associations and cooperatives in the coming years as part of the six-year implementation of the RCEF with a with a Php 10-billion annual allocation.

Meanwhile, Provincial Agriculturist Dalisay Moya said the donated equipment were requested by the beneficiaries themselves.

Farmer Marvin Malicdem, 36 of Bunlalacao farmers’ organization in Mangatarem town said the farm mechanization program of the government has had a huge impact on their productivity.
