Mangaldan ‘seniors’ to receive health, cash benefits

SENIOR citizens residing in Mangaldan town are set to receive more blessings set forth in the ordinance unanimously passed by the town’s Sangguniang Bayan.

Councilor Aldrin Soriano said Ordinance No. 2021-2 mandates the local government to provide both financial and health benefits among these are: free medical consultations and medicines at the town’s rural health unit (RHU).

Aside from health benefits for senior citizens, they will also be entitled to P500 birthday gift, and P500 year-end cash assistance benefit.

The local government is also set to award an additional P100,000 to centenarians in addition to the P100,000 cash assistance given by the national government.

Centenarians will also be awarded a Plaque of Recognition.

For a senior citizen to qualify for the benefits, he/she must first present a senior citizen ID issued by the town, and other government-issued IDs that indicate his birthdate.

Soriano, however, clarified the ordinance will still be submitted to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for review and approval. (Ahikam Pasion)
