STAKEHOLDERS in the provincial government’s COVID-19 Vaccination Roll-out plan have started to validate the activities in preparation for the arrival of the vaccines allocated for Pangasinan.

Governor Amado I. Espino III and Provincial Health Officer Anna Maria Teresa De Guzman and the League of Municipalities in the Philippines (LMP) – Pangasinan Chapter president, Lingayen Mayor Leopoldo N. Bataoil, held a consultative meeting with the members of Association of City/Municipal Health Officers of Pangasinan (AMCHOP) to discuss the details of the plan.

Espino urged the local health officers to establish a comprehensive protocol to avoid failure of communication among the local government units in this time of health crisis.

De Guzman reminded the attendees of Gov. Espino’s vision “to have a unified command, control, coordination, communication, and cooperation mechanism to ensure the implementation of COVID-19 vaccine trials, procurement and deployment of the COVID-19 vaccine, and immunization of priority eligible population.”

In the agenda was a discussion of the goals of the COVID-19 vaccine deployment and vaccination program: direct reduction of morbidity and mortality, maintenance of most critical essential services, substantial control transmission, minimized disruption of social, economic, and security functions, and resumption to near normal.

During the pre-implementation phase, among the activities include identification of the vaccines and the eligible population will be determined before simulation areas can be identified; profiling, screening and registration must be done using digital platform, vaccine allocation and distribution.

During the implementation phase, vaccine administration in facility-based areas and fixed sites will be conducted.

The priority targets of the vaccination program are: 1) Frontline health workers including all public and private sector workers; 2) indigent senior citizens as determined by Department of Social Welfare and Development; 3) Remaining senior citizens; 4) Remaining indigent population; and 5) uniformed personnel.

There will be 9 members for each team, that will do the screening and assessment, counseling, vaccinator, documenters, responders, and surveillance and a micro-planning orientation and workshop in all LGUs will be held this February, De Guzman said. (PIO/PJS)
