ESPINO AMBUSCADE

ONE of three principal suspects in the ambush of former Congressman Amado Espino Jr., arrested by joint police teams in Poblacion, San Juan, Batangas last February 7 and already  detained at the Basista Police jail, was served with six warrants of arrest on February 15.

The suspect, Armando Frias y Mangrobang of Barangay Pisuac, Urbiztondo, remains at the Basista Police jail, along with two other suspects, Alberto Palisoc and Benjie Resultan, also from Urbiztondo town.

Frias is currently listed in Police Regional Office as ‘top 10 high value individual’ for illegal drugs and ‘top 20 most wanted person’.

The six warrants of arrest served on Frias inside jail were issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Magnolia V. Cayetano of Branch 56 in San Carlos City: two counts for murder, three counts for frustrated murder and one for attempted murder.

The three suspects were tagged by the police as members of the Raul Sison Criminal Group, suspected to have participated in the planning and execution of ambush of Espino and his party while their vehicles were negotiating the road in Barangay Magtaking, San Carlos City in the afternoon of September 11, 2019.

Sison was a former provincial board member of Pangasinan who reportedly died from COVID-19 in Manila last year and his remains were cremated immediately after his death.

During a press conference attended by P/Brig. General Emmanuel Peralta  at the Basista  Training Center, the police said they will validate the report coming from Urbiztondo Mayor Martin Raul Sison that his father already died of COVID-19 at the Medical City in
Ortigas, Pasig City.

Frias, Palisoc and Resultan  were captured under the Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) launched since Peralta assumed office in late January this year.

Palisoc and Frias are also the region’s ‘top 18 and 19 MWP’. (Leonardo Micua)
