Bataoil, again a PMA Cavalier awardee
LINGAYEN Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil was among the recipients of the prestigious Cavalier Awards bestowed by the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association, Inc., (PMAAAI)
Bataoil, a retired two-star police general, received his second Cavalier Award in recognition of his exemplary accomplishments in public service. He received his first Cavalier award 11 years ago in February 2010.
The PMAAAI Cavalier Awards is the highest recognition given to a PMA alumnus or alumna with outstanding achievements in their respective fields.
Bataoil was a three-termer representative of the 2nd District n before he was elected mayor of Pangasinan’s capital town, Lingayen.
He is credited for the following projects: Lingayen Baywalk; Daang Kalikasan connecting Mangatarem, Pangasinan to Sta. Cruz, Zambales; Daang Katutubo in Aguilar; hanging bridge in Cacaoiten, Mangatarem and Pototan, Binmaley; Ylang-Ylang Plantation; Lingayen-Binmaley by-pass road; restoration of the Casa Real as the provincial museum; construction and rehabilitation of Philippine National Police (PNP) stations, including fire stations in the 2nd District; farm-to-market roads; and construction of school buildings, multi-purpose halls, and rural health units.
Bataoil said a continuing quest for upliftment of people’s lives, providing more job opportunities, and improvement of health conditions and social order are some of his primary considerations in the public service arena.
“Political will with humanitarian consideration,” said Bataoil of his guiding light to get the job done right.
Bataoil, a member of the PMA Magilas Class of 1976, was cited together with
21 alumni awardees that included Defense Secretary Delfin, Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año, Social Welfare Secretary Rolando Bautista, and Presidential Peace Adviser Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr., who heads the National Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.
Past Cavalier awardees in Pangasinan were former Governor Amado Espino Jr. (PMA Class of 1972) and Lingayen Municipal Administrator Roberto Sylim (1974). (PIA -Pangasinan /VHS)
