THREE city governments in Pangasinan have decided they will not simply wait for their allocation of vaccines.

Dagupan City has set the pace and allotted P10 million to purchase vaccines while the cities of San Carlos and Alaminos are set to allocate their own too for the purchase of vaccines for COVID-19 to be made available to their constituents.

Dagupan City Mayor Marc Brian Lim said he already signed a tripartite agreement with British pharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca and Vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., and Health Secretary Francisco Duque III – for an initial allocation of 40,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine once FDA approves its use in the Philippines.

In San Carlos City, the local government plans to set aside P10 million – P20 million for the purchase of said vaccines.

Mayor Julier ‘Ayoy” Resuello said the city will likely join the purchase of the League of Cities of the Philippines, depending on the budget of each city and already identified health workers as the priority sector.

In Alaminos City, Mayor Arth Bryan Celeste also convened the city’s Finance Committee for the allocation and process of purchase for the vaccines but did not set the target amount. (PIA/VHS)
