Manaoag logs 23 new cases; Basilica closed for 2 days

THE Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Manaoag was temporarily closed for two days, Jan. 7-8,  for cleaning and disinfection of its whole complex and its services were suspended following reports of new confirmed cases in the town.

Public worship and other liturgical services may resume in the afternoon of Jan. 9, according to the advisory posted on the official Facebook page of the Church.

“Prayers and masses will be offered in private by the priests and brothers of the Dominican community,” it added.

A report from the Provincial Health Office on COVID-19 released on Thursday showed that Manaoag has 23 new confirmed active cases, making the total number of active COVID cases in the town to 30.

The youngest of the latest confirmed COVID cases in the town is a two-year-old girl while the oldest is an 89-year-old man. (Eva Visperas)
