JOINT AMELIORATION DISTRIBUTION

THE provincial government provided financial assistance to 15,129 barangay volunteers in 44 towns and 3 cities of the province during the Joint Amelioration Distribution that started on December 16 and concluded on December 29.

The granting of amelioration to the barangay workers who served their communities for at least one year, started 14 years ago with P500 in cash assistance under the watch of the former Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. The program has been continued by Gov. Amado Espino III as a token of appreciation for the barangay volunteers’ efforts and sacrifices for public service.

The beneficiaries this year were 10,958 Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), 1,550 Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPOs), 1,119 Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) and 1,502 Child Development Workers (CDWs). The basic fund was P2,000 pesos and P3,000 was given to those who performed two or three functions.

List of recipients were prepared by the barangay council of each town or city and approved by the respective local chief executive of each town and city before submitting to the PHO.

Other criteria for receiving the financial assistance include Basic Course Training in BHWs and BNS and at least 1 year in service.

“Malaking tulong po ang naibigay ng amelioration kasi kahit na may pandemya, hindi niyo po nakakalimutan ang mga day care workers at ibang volunteers. Sana po ay tuloy-tuloy ang pagtulong niyo sa aming mga volunteers,” said Nylida Aquino, president of CDWs of Balungao. (PIO/DAT)
