ABOUT 2,000 mangrove propagules were planted by different sectors on Jan. 14 to protect the coastal barangay of Lucap, the jump-off point to the Hundred Islands, in Alaminos City.

This time it was the DoNATION group composed of the Fideliz Ako, Interact and Rotaract Club of Alaminos City, Girl Scouts of the Philippines of Alaminos City National High School, Supreme Student Government of ACNHS, and SK Federation of Alaminos City together with the local government unit of Alaminos City, Rotary Club of Alaminos, and Alpha Phi Omega that conducted the mangrove planting  activity.

The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of the city hailed the mangrove planting activity citing how the fast changing and technologically advanced world has made people forget the most essential thing of their existence, the youth group pointed out.

It said the planting activity raised awareness about the significance of planting and saving mangroves. (Eva Visperas)
