2 fires greet Lingayen on New Year

THREE families were rendered homeless while one establishment was gutted in two separate fires that broke out in Lingayen on New Year’s Day.

The first fire broke out in Barangay Tonton at about 3:30 a.m. on January 1 that gutted the houses of Ma. Theresa Aquino, 54; Enriquita Casaclang, 73; and Gerald Aquino, all of Barangay Tonton.

Elements of the Lingayen Bureau of Fire Protection, assisted by the local police, responded to the blaze that was declared under control at 1:45 a.m.

The fire that gutted the store in Barangay Pangapisan North happened at about 11:00 p.m. on December 31. It is owned by Joseph Ferrer, an engineer. The fire was declared out at 12:05 a.m. on January 1.

Firemen are still probing the causes of the two incidents. (Leonardo Micua)
