THE Alaminos City Police will arrest anyone who sells firecrackers in the city without permits from the city hall.

P/Lt. Col. Garie Noel Pascua, city police chief, said Mayor Arth Bryan Celeste had made it clear that he did not, and will not issue permits to sell firecrackers in the city.

The city has been the source of firecrackers in Western Pangasinan for decades.

Pascua said checkpoints in borders are in place to prevent entry of firecrackers from manufacturers and dealers with the intent of selling these to vendors.

He, however, clarified that there is still no ban against using and lighting of firecrackers in the city purchased outside of the city provided that the firecrackers are not included in the list of banned firecrackers.

He added no firecracker zones have been designated in the city in order to prevent gathering of sellers and buyers in those areas.

“Kapag may firecracker zone, talagang magkukumpulan po ang mga tao, kaya po hindi muna natin nirekumenda sa ngayon”, he said.

Meanwhile, Fire Chief Inspector Bryan Pocyao, Dagupan City fire marshal, said the city government has not banned firecrackers but no one has applied for a permit to sell.
