PHO chief Dr. Anna De Guzman said reunions, celebrations this yuletide season should only be attended by family members.

“Reunions get togethers, alcohol drinking sessions and karaoke singing should be avoided because of the high probability of transmission of the virus,” she said adding that respiratory droplets of a person with COVID-19 can infect other people.

She also cautioned families about preparing foods with “sarsa” because these do not keep and spoil easily.

“It is important to always keep our foods fresh to prevent food poisoning during the holiday season,” she said.

De Guzman also warned those who are hypertensive and with other ailments to avoid eating fatty and salty foods and drinking alcohol because these can trigger complications.

“Let’s be cautious and take care of our health, take maintenance medicines regularly because viral infections such as cough and colds are very common during the cold weather that causes low immune system,” she said. (Jerick Pasiliao)
