Gov. Espino inks MOA with DICT for better digital connectivity in Pangasinan

GOVERNOR Amado I. Espino III inked a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Information and Communications and Technology (DICT) Secretary Gregorio B. Honasan II to ensure quality, affordable, reliable, and secured information and communication network in Pangasinan held on December 2 at the Governor’s Office, Capitol Building, Lingayen.

In his speech, Sec. Honasan mentioned that the goal of the DICT in entering this partnership with the Provincial Government is to bring digital connectivity not only in Pangasinan but also in the entire country and the world.

“Ang orders galing sa ating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ay connectivity. We connect government to other governments – domestic and global. We connect government to business. We connect government to the citizens. Because that is the only way to unite this country,” said Sec. Honasan.

Secretary Honasan further explained that the importance of network and connection especially in the future generation.

“Kapag naka-connect lahat, everybody will have access to information and data which now considered the most precious resource. Access to data has become not only a privilege but a right. Kasama ‘yan sa serbisyo na kailangang ibigay ng isang responsableng pamahalaan sa lahat ng mamamayan.” Sec. Honasan stated mentioning that citizens of the Philippines should have reliable and cost-efficient information and communication technology.

The signed Memorandum of Agreement states that the Provincial Government of Pangasinan is committed to promote digital connectivity and provide quality ICT services for its constituents.

The partnership between the Provincial Government and the DICT also aims to strengthen the internet services in the province through the provincial broadband network.

Moreover, Sec. Honasan commended Governor Espino for continuous and dynamic development of the province in the ICT sector.

“Our efforts to connect the entire country through ICT begins with progressive provinces like Pangasinan under the able leadership of our governor,” said Sec. Honasan.

Governor Espino expressed his gratitude towards Secretary Honasan and DICT for partnering with the province in this project.

“Thank you, Secretary, for visiting Pangasinan at ang inyong pagbisita at pagbibigay ng tulong sa buong Probinsya ng Pangasinan ay napakalaking tulong. Ang pagpunta ninyo dito at pagbigay ng atensyon at tulong sa Probinsya ng Pangasinan ay mararamdaman hindi lamang po dito sa Provincial Government kung hindi po sa mga LGUs na aming nasasakupan,” said Governor Espino.

The Provincial Chief Executive also thanked President Duterte for bringing improved connectivity to the province.

“Please extend our gratitude to the President dahil through DICT ay nabibigyan ng pagkakataon ang buong Pilipinas – ang mga far-flung barangays, mga bayan at mga probinsyang nangangailangan ng information at internet,” Gov. Espino stated.

Joining the event were Manaoag Mayor Kim Amador, DICT Undersecretary Jose Arturo De Castro, , Provincial Administrator Nimrod Camba, Provincial Legal Officer Geraldine Baniqued, Provincial Accountant Arturo Soriano, Provincial Information Officer Orpheus Velasco, Management Information Services Office Chief Modesto Singson and Provincial Governor’s Office Chief Administrative Officer Irmina Francisco.
