Dressmakers get free sewing machines
END TO VAW CAMPAIGN
THE provincial government in partnership with the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) launched the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against women (VAW) on December 8 at the Sison Auditorium in Lingayen with the distribution of 10 sewing machines (five manual machines and five industrial machines) to 10 local female dressmakers one of whom was Adoracion Gonzales from Binalonan.
“We can help them with their livelihood. Tayo ay part ng solusyon na makatulong sa gobyerno para maibsan ang pandemya. This becomes a livelihood for many women,” said PCW Chairperson Sandra Sanchez-Montano.
The 18-day Campaign to End VAW is conducted in support to the goal of protected the human rights of women in addressing the issues of gender-based violence in the country.
Board Member and Committee on Children, Women, Elderly, PWD, Family Affairs, and Social Welfare Chairperson Rosary Gracia Perez-Tababa who represented Governor Amado Espino III affirmed the provincial government’s support to the campaign. (PIO)
