DOLE provides more aid to workers

SOME 3,606 informal sector workers and overseas Filipino workers in Pangasinan were the latest beneficiaries of the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) financial, emergency employment and livelihood programs.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello, who led the awarding of assistance to beneficiaries separate awarding ceremonies in Pangasinan recently, said the benefits were provided by ‘Tulong Panghanabuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers Program’ (TUPAD), ‘DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program’ and ‘About Kamay ang Pagtulong’ (AKAP).

Under TUPAD’s short-term work, 847 beneficiaries in San Carlos City received their wages; 677 in Balungao, San Quintin and Tayug; 1,498 in Binalonan, and 496 in Umingan.

Meanwhile, AKAP delivered livelihood assistance to 16 residents from San Carlos City and Rosales town.

Dagupan City’s 220 informal sector workers received P1.2-million assistance.
