FOURTH District Rep. Christopher de Venecia happily announced in his Facebook account that the Edades and Bernal Museum bill he filed  in the House of Representatives was passed on second reading.

House Bill No. 8133 proposed  by Cong. De Venecia seeks to honor two Dagupeño Filipino National Artists Victorio Edades of Barangay Bolosan and Salvador Bernal of Barangay Pantal by constructing a museum that will become the repository of all their works.

Edades was hailed as the “Father of Modern Philippine Painting” while Bernal, during his time, was known as the Master for Contemporary Filipino Theatre Design. Both deceased national artists are source of immense pride of Dagupenos.

“If the bill is passed into law, a museum will be built in Dagupan where the works of both national artists, Edades and Bernal, will be put on display and preserved to serve as inspiration to all Dagupenos of the present and future generations,” De Venecia said.

The city government of Dagupan recently honored Edades when Mayor Brian Lim issued an executive order declaring December 23 as special holiday in the city to enable city residents to commemorate the birthday of Edades with appropriate ceremonies.

Meanwhile, De Venecia, led the inauguration of  the newly-built multi-purpose center of Barangay Calaocan Manaoag on December 14.

He was joined in that occasion by his parents, former five-time Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. and his wife former Rep. Gina de Venecia.

Others who graced the inauguration were several barangay captains of Manaoag led by Liga ng Barangay president Pol Arenas, Fourth District Board Member Jeremy Agerico Rosario, Highway District Engineer Edita Manuel, kagawad members and families.

De Venecia said the multi-purpose center will bring multiple benefits to the residents of Barangay Calaoacan, Manaoag. (Leonardo Micua)
