Capitol unveils 1st Online Chess Tournament

SOME 300 young woodpushers participated in the virtual 1st Governor Amado I. Espino III Online Chess Tournament launched via Zoom on November 28.

Provincial Sports Development and Management Council (PSDMC) Executive Officer Modesto Operania said the online chess tournament organized by Gov. Amado Espino III in partnership with the Pangasinan Chess League, is open to non-titled 15 years old and above woodpushers.

The succeeding dates of the tournament for the weekly qualifying, are December 4-6, December 11-13 and December 18.

Final tournament games are scheduled on December 19-20.

The online chess tournament seeks to enhance the skills of young chessers in the province in the new normal while observing safety protocols against COVID-19.

Each game of the tournament starts at 7 p.m. via Lichess website, a free online chess server. (PIO/SMDG)
