BARANGAY volunteers in the province recently received amelioration benefits from the provincial government.

The first day of Joint Amelioration Distribution for Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs), Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPOs), and Child Development Workers (CDWs) was held in the First District on December 16.

Among the beneficiaries that received P2,000 each were 437 BHWs, 92 BNSs, 104 BSPOs and 120 CDWs from Alaminos City, Mabini, Burgos, Dasol and Infanta.

First District Board Member Margielou Orange Humilde-Verzosa, who led the awarding ceremony, commended the dedication of barangay volunteers in the province to public service and pointed out that the amelioration package provided by the provincial government is an acknowledgment of the barangay workers’ dedication and sacrifice.

“Mula po sa ating mahal na gobernador, ipinapaabot po rin niya sa inyo na ang lahat ng Pangasinense ay mahalaga. At sa panahon na ito, wala pong maiiwan na Pangasinense… lahat po tayo ay sama-samang babangon para po sa kinabukasan ng ating bayan,” BM Verzosa said.

Only four volunteers from each barangay of the municipalities and city were allowed to attend the brief distribution to ensure physical distancing in the venues.

“Kami, bilang volunteers, tuwang-tuwa po kami dahil tayo ngayon nasa pandemya, malaking tulong po ito sa amin… may pang-Noche Buena na kami kasi ‘yung iba sa amin wala pang hanapbuhay… sobrang laking tulong po ito,” said Perlita Siborboro, one of the BSPO beneficiaries from Burgos town.

The Joint Amelioration Distribution will run for 10 days, from December 16 to 23 and 28-29.

The amelioration program started under the stint of former governor Amado T. Espino Jr. (PIO/SMDG)
