108 new cases noted in less than a week

COVID-19 CONTINUES TO SOAR IN PANGASINAN

COVID-19 cases continue to surge in the province with 285 active cases recorded as of December 23, compared to only 177 on December 17, or an increase of 108 cases in less than six days.

The biggest surge was registered in Dagupan when its active COVID-19 cases reached 87  as of December 23, although the increase on December 20 with 101 active cases.

The biggest upsurge of cases in the province was on December 21 when 38 new cases were added, after 19 were added on December 20 and 17 on December 22.

The new cases raised the figure of COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan since the contagion started to 2,188. Of these, 1,951 were from 47 towns and cities of the province and 629 were from Dagupan.

In Dagupan City, based on the December 20 tally posted by the city’s Public Information Office, there were 658 registered cases and 529 of these had recovered. The total 658 cases were among 15,749 persons tested by the city government.

A report posted by the city’s Public Information Office on December 20 showed Pantal had 14 cases, followed by Caranglaan (12), Malued (10), Mayombo (8), Bonuan Boquig (7), Pugaro (7), Tapuac (7), Bonuan Gueset (6), Bonuan Binloc (4), Lasip Grande (3), Lucao (3), Pogo Grande (3), Tebeng (2), Bacayao Sur (1), Calmay (1), Salapingao (1). Mamalingling (1) and Tambac (1).

Bacayao Norte is now the only barangay in Dagupan without any COVID-19 case

With 87 COVID-19 cases, Dagupan City remains on top of the watch list of the Department of Health, followed by Calasiao (24), Mangaldan (19), Alcala (18), San Carlos City (14), Sison. (14), Rosales (11), Balungao (8), Binmaley (7), Bayambang (6), Alaminos City (6), Dasol (5), Lingayen (5) and Manaoag (5).

The Provincial Health Office said 32.67 percent of the 48 towns and cities of Pangasinan remain infected with COVID-19 while 16 towns are COVID-19 free, namely: Aguilar, Anda, Bani, Bugallon, Burgos, Infanta, Labrador, Mabini, Mangatarem, Natividad, San Jacinto, San Manuel, San Nicolas, San Quintin, Sta.
