‘Ulysses’ left P26-M damage in Pangasinan
TYPHOON Ulysses’ strong winds and rainfall caused P26 million in damages to both agriculture and infrastructure in 20 towns and 46 barangays in Pangasinan.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office ((PDRRMO) reported 476 families or 1,806 individuals were moved to evacuation centers and higher grounds as Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3 was raised in the province, November 11, Wednesday afternoon.
As of November 13, all evacuees have reportedly returned to their homes except for 16 families or 71 individuals in Bayambang town who were still sheltered in evacuation centers.
Ulysses’ powerful winds caused trees to fall in provincial and barangay roads in the cities of San Carlos and Dagupan but all national roads remained passable to all types of vehicles.
The Provincial Engineers Office said partial report on damages to infrastructure were estimated at P13,635,000 while farmers suffered P1.4-million in losses for rice and corn in the towns of Calasiao and Rosales while estimated value of damage to mangoes was pegged at P12-million in San Carlos City.
Some 94 houses in six towns were partially damaged while two were totally damaged.
Communication lines and water supply were all operational but twenty municipalities being serviced by electric distribution utility Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (CENPELCO) experienced a 13-hour power outage during the onslaught of the typhoon on November 12.
