Road clearing operations resumes in Pangasinan

AFTER seven months, the road clearing operations in all towns and cities as ordered by  the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) have resumed.

Paul Lalata, DILG Pangasinan provincial director, said the road operations officially started on November 16 and will continue through January 15, 2021 for validation.

Lalata clarified that to be cleared are road obstructions that include tricycle terminals, vending sites, house encroachments blocking road-right-of-way, signs, and trees and communication poles (in coordination with DENR, DPWH and telecommunications networks).

He called on the public to voluntarily remove their structures that have obstructed roads’ right of way.

Meanwhile, the local governments of Mangatarem, Natividad and Tayug were sent show cause orders due to their failure to start the road clearing operations.

Last year, the towns of Agno, Bautista, Bayambang, Infanta and Manaoag recorded high compliance during the first road clearing operations.

Meanwhile, Lalata lauded the provincial government’s preemptive response and preparations for Typhoon Ulysses that required all mayors to be in their respective towns and until the clearing operations. (Nora Dominguez)
