FOR STUDENTS IN NEED

THE Pangasinan State University (PSU) here has forged a partnership with 26 towns and cities to help students having problems with online learning and those who have no means to acquire essential gadgets.

University President Dr. Dexter Buted said some 26 towns and cities are now part of the PSU-LGU ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) KONEK project in response to needs of students for the new normal set-up of learning.

Buted said the project will help “ensure the quality of learning experiences of students and faculty amid the pandemic while ensuring that their wellness is still in good condition.”

Under the project, the local government will provide the learning space for the students while PSU will provide computer units as well as the provision of manpower for the supervision and maintenance of the computers.

Buted said PSU will allot P2-million for the purchase of tablets for selected recipient-students, provision of load for data connectivity and printing of modules.

Dr, Manolito Manuel, vice-president for academic affairs, said a survey in the campuses revealed that out of the 25,479 students enrolled for the first semester of school year 2020-2021, 30 percent do not have internet connectivity.

“We would like to ease the troubled minds of the people and make them feel that the government, through the PSU, is in control of ensuring that their dreams about their future is still possible,” Buted said. (PIA/VHS)
