THE Provincial Government of Pangasinan has unveiled two Provincial Ligtas COVID-19 Centers and two Provincial Halfway Houses in Burgos and Sta. Barbara yesterday, November 14.

Governor Amado I. Espino III and Office of the Civil Defense Regional Director Eugene Cabrera led the inauguration of Provincial Ligtas COVID-19 Center and Provincial Halfway House in Burgos.

The COVID-19 center and halfway house in Burgos are both situated in a two-hectare lot earlier donated by former Vice Mayor Belen Cabiles to the provincial government of Pangasinan in 2017 via deed of donation signed by Gov. Espino and the Cabiles family.

Previously used as reformation center, the Provincial Ligtas COVID-19 Center will accommodate COVID-19 mild patients in the province.

The provincial COVID-19 center in Burgos has 25 bed-capacity and will be operated by personnel from the Provincial Health Office and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Center (PDRRMO) in coordination with the Department of Health.

In addition to the manpower of the provincial COVID-19 center, the provincial government also employed 12 additional personnel who will man the center.

The Halfway House in Burgos, on the other hand, will serve as a processing center for former rebels who are waiting for their benefits. It will serve as temporary residence of former rebels while they are waiting to be enrolled at the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP).

Consequently, this facility will also serve as venue in conducting rehabilitation, healing sessions as well as educational session and skills training activities.

Meanwhile, the provincial government also held the formal inauguration of the isolation facilities in Sta. Barbara — Provincial Ligtas COVID-19 Center and Provincial Halfway House, which have been accommodating mild COVID-19 cases in the province.

Situated at the OPAG Compound in Tebag East, Sta. Barbara, the isolation facilities have a 56-bed capacity.

The isolation facilities in Sta. Barbara are manned by heath personnel from the PHO in coordination with the DOH.

In his message during the inauguration in Burgos, Gov. Espino said: “Ito po ay napakalaking biyaya sa ating lahat dahil hindi po galing kanino man kundi sa mga taong handang tumulong sa atin.”

Gov. Espino also assured that the provincial government works hand in hand with the national government and local government units (LGUs) in the province for the common good in Pangasinan.

“The service of the provincial government should not stop kaya itong pong isang programang ito, with the cooperation at sa tulong ng ating national offices, mababait na kababayan natin sa bayan ng Burgos na willing magbigay ng kanilang mga ari-arian upang pakinabangan po nating lahat ay dapat po nating samantalahin at alagaan,” Gov. Espino said.

“Ang kailangan po natin ngayon ay pagtutulungan at sakripisyo sa bawat isa,” he also urged Pangasinenses.

The provincial chief executive also noted that the provincial government also plans to establish another building in the vicinity of the 2-hectare lot for out-of-school youth in partnership with the TESDA.

“Yung plano niyo po Ma’am na magpatayo pa ng building para sa ating mga kabataan at out-of-school youth… sa TESDA po, nag-usap na kami. Asahan niyo po, first quarter next year, magpapatayo po tayo ng building para makatulong po sa bayan ng Burgos at sa buong 1st district,” said Gov. Espino to former Vice Mayor Cabiles.

Joining Gov. Espino and Dir. Cabrera in the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the two facilities in Burgos were: 702nd Brigade AFP Commander Audrey Pasia, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Provincial Director Paulino Lalata, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Provincial Director Jimmicio Daoaten, Burgos Mayor Ronald Ngayawan and PDRRMO Rhodyn Luchinvar Oro.

Dir. Cabrera, who also chairs the Regional Task Force 1 (RTF-1) on COVID-19 pledged support to the all the programs of the provincial government and likewise, to the operations of the facilities.

“Tuloy-tuloy po ang pakikipag-ugnayan natin sa tanggapan ni Gov. Espino at sa PDRRMO at consistently po sa Bayanihan Law, ang suporta po ang ibibigay ng pambansang pamahalaan sa pamahalaang panlalawigan ng Pangasinan,” the RTF-1 chairperson noted.

“Ano man pong suporta ang kakailanganin ng pasilidad ay tutugunan ng aming tanggapan” Dir. Cabrera stated as he commended the generosity of the Cabiles family.

DILG Provincial Dir. Lalata also commended the leadership of Gov. Espino for another milestone in the province that will further help and serve Pangasineses.

Also present during the inauguration in Burgos were: Sangguniang Panlalawigan members Margielou Orange Humilde and Jerome Vic Espino and Mabini Mayor Ariel De Guzman.

Meanwhile, Pangasinan Provincial Hospital (PPH) Chief Aurelio Cariño led the inauguration of the isolation facilities in Sta. Barbara.

The blessing in Burgos was officiated by Rev. Fr. Melchor Joseph C. Braga while Rev. Fr. Carlito Yden officiated the blessing in Sta. Barbara. /Shiella Mae C. De Guzman
