Pangasinan humanitarian mission leaves for Cagayan

A convoy of 24 vehicles, including 10-wheeler dump trucks, left the capitol compound in Lingayen at 11 p.m. on Thursday for their day-long journey to Cagayan to deliver their loads of food and essential goods as part of the Oplan Tulong Kapatid organized by Governor Amado Espino III.

The convoy was given a warm send off by Rhodyn Oro, chief of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), who gave guidelines to members of the humanitarian mission heading to Cagayan.

The 24-vehicle convoy are carrying packs of food, essential goods and other donations extended by various local government  units, members of the private sector and non-government organizations as well as well-heeled individuals.

The convoy was expected to be in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan at noon on November 20.

The mission was led by Provincial Social  Welfare and Development Officer Emilio Samson with members from the Police Provincial Office and Armed Forces of the Philippines, PRRRMO, Provincial Engineering Office and the Provincial Information Office.

Included in the mission are some of the staff of Second District Rep. Jumel Espino who led appeals for donations through his Project “Imis” (Smile) in his district.

A day earlier, Governor Espino met with members of the provincial Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases and discussed operational details of humanitarian mission to Cagayan. (Leonardo Micua)
