Dagupan records 423 confirmed cases, 116 active, 285 recoveries, 20 deaths

THE city of Dagupan continues to be on top of the COVID-19 watch list of the Department of Health and of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) because its active cases remain past the century mark, the highest in Pangasinan.

As of 9 p.m. on October 28, Dagupan recorded 116 active cases, seven of which were newly confirmed.

This brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases since the pandemic started in mid- March this year to 423, but at least 285 cases have recovered. However, 19 have already died, the biggest number of fatalities ever recorded by any local government unit in Pangasinan.

The city’s total 415 cases were among the 13,390 persons who were given COVID-19 tests, records of the Public Information Office (PIO) showed.

Bonuan Gueset continues to be the epicenter of the pandemic in Dagupan – 42 active cases and two deaths. Some of the active cases were from inside the District Jail under the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.

Second in the number of cases is Pantal (17 active cases and two deaths), followed by Caranglaan (eight cases, one death), Lucao (6 cases, two deaths), Malued (six cases, one death), Pogo Chico (five cases, one death), Tapuac (five cases), Lomboy (four cases,);

Salapingao (three active cases), Tambac (three cases,), Tebeng (three cases), Barangay 1 (two cases, three deaths), Poblacion Oeste (one case, three deaths), Mayombo (two cases), Calmay (one case, one death), and  Barangay II & III, Carael, Herrera-Perez, Mangin, and Pogo Grande (one case each).

As of October 29, the bed occupancy of all the city’s isolation facilities was at 43 percent. (Leonardo Micua)
