Crime rate in Pangsinan down by 65%

CRIME volume in Pangasinan province has dropped by 65% from January to October this year compared to same period last year.

P/Col. Redrico Maranan, police provincial director, attributed further decrease in the number of cases of index and non-index crimes to the deployment of police at checkpoints at the entry and exit of towns and border control in the province that control the movements and exit of suspects and would-be victims due to the existing community quarantine.

Among those detected by the police deployed at the checkpoints were motorcycle riding suspects engaged in guns-for-hire activities.

In addition to the Pangasinan PNP’s relentless anti-criminality campaign, search warrants and warrants of arrest issuance by the courts were religiously served to identified crime suspects. (Nora Dominguez)
