COVID-19 now likely on a downturn in Pangasinan

LATEST PHO TALLY SHOWS

THE period October 13-19 registered 128 new confirmed cases, 121 new recovered and five deaths could be the indicator that stakeholders in the campaign vs COVID-19, that show an encouraging trend that COVID-19 can be conquered seven months after the start of the pandemic.

This optimism is based on the big number of recovered cases the past week from October 16 to 22 numbering 244, a period when the number of new confirmed active cases was just 186.

Then as of October 29, the number of active cases was down to 352, from 355  the previous week and the number of  recovered  patients ballooned to 1,261 from 1,136 the previous week.

However, the number of deaths due to COVID-19 has reached 60, with the inclusion of the five fatalities, two each died on October 25 and 23 and one on October 29.

Records of the PHO showed that on October 27, not a single new care was recorded and no new recovery nor death was tallied.

The lone fatality on October 29 was a 64-year-old woman from Dasol who might have been infected when she was frequently traveling to Dagupan City where she was undergoing dialysis. Without any symptom at all, she had to be confined in the municipal isolation facility.

Two other persons died on October 25. They were a 45-year-old man and a 39-year-old man from Malasiqui who manifested symptoms and had to be confined in a hospital where they died.

The two fatalities on October 23 were a 57-year-old man from Alaminos City and a 58-year-old woman from Sual who were admitted in hospital. They  were both asymptomatic.

As a result of this encouraging trend, Pangasinan as well as the city of Dagupan, will remain under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) from November 1 to 30.

No less than Interior and  Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año, in the Laging Handa program of Presidential  Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar, congratulated Governor Amado Espino III for downturn of cases in all towns of Pangasinan (with the exception of Dagupan City).
