Another Dagupan-Binmaley bypass road under construction

SOON, travel from Dagupan City to Binmaley, Lingayen and other areas in the First and Second Districts will be faster once another bypass road is completed.

This was ascertained after Fourth District Rep. Christopher de Venecia conducted an inspection on the ongoing Phase I construction of the project in Barangay Carael on October 27, during his birthday.

A 350-meter four-lane bridge spanning across the Calmay river with sidewalks on both sides and a bicycle lane will connect the road to the Jose de Venecia Expressway Extension and is set for completion in 2023.

The new bridge will finally replace the old Franklin bridge that used to link the downtown area of Dagupan to Barangay Calmay and onward to Binmaley, which was destroyed by a big flood in 1939, a deluge that also wiped out the San Albertus Magnus College, then the first sectarian high school in Dagupan.

The construction of the 6.206 kilometers, diversion road connecting Pangasinan-Zambales Road to Judge Jose de Venecia Boulevard Extension Road in Dagupan will be connected on the Lingayen bypass road and it will traverse Binmaley and Dagupan.

The Binmaley section has an estimated length of 3.6126 kms while the Dagupan section at the Carael side has an estimated length of 2.6317 kms. Both have four-lane carriageway, a median at the center, and a bicycle lane and sidewalk at both sides.

The project will not only ease travel time of motorists going to Lingayen or Alaminos from Dagupan City or places in the North and vice versa but will lessen traffic congestion and provide faster and safer mobility of manpower and services.

The phase two of the project has been recently bidded and its fund has been included in 2021 budget.

Elated over these developments, former Speaker Jose de Venecia lauded his son for continuing the vision he had for Dagupan.

“In the past, many thought it was just a dream but look, here it is now. It’s now being realized,” he said (PhilStar Wire Service/ECV)
