RAPE cases in Pangasinan have been noted to decrease since 2018, but the number continues to be alarming, particularly in the number of rape of children.

Of the 252 rape cases reported by the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, from January 1 until October 11 this year, 44 victims were women while rape cases that victimized children were 208.

Pangasinan police director P/Col. Redrico Maranan said investigations conducted by Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) showed that rape cases against women and children most often took place in residences, especially during the period of 8PM to 12 midnight and 12 noon to 4PM.

Maranan said reporting rape cases help deter commission of the crime and urged relatives of victims to report all instances of violations against them to the WCPD. (PIO/SMDG)
