Only 9 towns remain COVID-19-free

AS of 9 p.m. on October 2, the number of towns in Pangasinan without a single active COVID-19 case now had been reduced to just seven, comprising 19 percent of the 48 towns and cities of the province.

This means that 38 other towns and cities or 81 percent are where the recorded 343 active COVID-19 cases are presently concentrated.

Those considered COVID-19 free as of October 2 are the towns of Agno, Bani, Burgos, Dasol, Mangatarem, San Carlos, San Nicolas, Sto. Tomas and Umingan.

Dasol, according to the Provincial Health Office (PHO) earned the distinction as the only town in Pangasinan that did not register any COVID-19 case since the start of the pandemic.

Dagupan City still leads in the number of active coronavirus disease cases and remains on top in the COVID-19 watchlist of the PHO with 111 cases.

Malasiqui was in far second (25), followed by Mangaldan (21), Calasiao (19), Lingayen, Sta. Barbara and Urdaneta City (17 each), Sta. Barbara (9), Binmaley (8), Manaoag, San Fabian and Sual, Bautista and Mapandan (5 each), and Balungao (4). (Leonardo Micua)
