STA. Barbara Mayor Joel Delos Santos has lifted the lockdown status of four barangays last October 15 after the number of COVID-19 cases in their villages have dropped.

Delos Santos announced in a Facebook post that as per Executive Order No. 75-2020, concurred by the Region 1 Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases per Resolution No. 165-2020, lockdown in Barangays Tebag West, Banaoang, Maticmatic and Ventinilla has been lifted.

“Today marks a great development in our battle against COVID-19, as 66 of our kabaleyans (townmates) who tested positive for the novel disease are now cleared and have recovered from COVID-19 – raising the total number of recoveries in Sta. Barbara to 99 and bringing down the record of active cases to 34,” Delos Santos said.

He added that others still in the isolation facilities show no signs and symptoms of the disease.

It may be recalled that 113 essential service workers of a big corporation here were earlier tested positive for COVID-19. Of this number, 91 were from this town. (PhilStar Wire Service/ECV)
